Is Business Partners Counseling therapy, coaching, or consulting?

Business Partners Counseling is a unique hybrid. It does not fit neatly into therapy, coaching, or consulting.

It is not traditional therapy because the work does not focus on childhood, trauma, family-of-origin issues, or deeply personal psychological material. It may use therapeutic skills—such as understanding emotional reactions, conflict patterns, communication barriers, and relationship repair—but applies those skills to the business partnership.

It is not typical executive coaching because the work involves multiple partners, relationship dynamics, communication dynamics, neutrality, and the business as a whole.

It is not traditional consulting because a business partners counselor’s role is not to simply tell partners what to do. Instead, the work helps partners think clearly, communicate effectively, and arrive at better decisions themselves.
